Crank-a-kai
The following lists all the possible Yo-kai you can acquire from the Crank-a-kai. It is important to note that the crank-a-kai may also dispense food items depending on the color of the coin. Also, note that the Yo-kai or item that will be dispensed by the coin is already determined as soon as you acquire the coins. This can not be changed through soft or hard resetting, changing the time of the 3DS, or changing the order of the coins you insert in the crank-a-kai.
When a coin is inserted into the Crank-a-kai, the color of the capsule will give you a hint of what is inside.

3DS Play Coins
3DS Play Coins is probably the easiest to acquire. To get 10 of these, put your 3DS in sleep mode, strap it on your leg (or anywhere, as long as it will sense your movement), and walk 1,000 steps. You're doing your body a favor and you're also getting play coins. A crank at the Crank-a-kai requires 10 play coins (which is the maximum you can get a day). Regardless of whether or not you save after using the machine, 10 coins are permanently used.
Here are the Yo-kai that can be acquired using 3DS Play Coins. All of these are Rare and Rank A Yo-kai.

Jewel-nyan Coins
Jewel-nyan coins were previously exclusive to the Japanese version of the game. They will now be available worldwide. To acquire these coins, you need to head to San Diego Comic-con 2016 (July 21-24, 2016) and purchase a vinyl Dianyan figurine with five medals for 29 American Dollars. Should you not be able to go to San Diego Comic-con, a handful of these Dianyan figurine will be sold at Hasbro's website. Scan these five medals and you will get the Jewel-nyan coins, namely Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby, Topaz, and Diamond Coin. Using this on a Crank-a-kai will make the machine dispense a Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby, Topaz, or Diamond Bell, depending on the coin you use. These bells make it possible for the Jewel-nyans to appear on set locations in game. Click here to find out where you can find these seafood loving Yo-kai.
