Ingredients for a Dorito Taco Salad:
- Taco meat – our ground beef taco meat recipe is made so delicious with a homemade taco seasoning.
- Lettuce – we love romaine for this recipe but you can use iceburg lettuce or even a spring mix loaded with arugula and spinach.
- Cheese – shredded cheese adds a great flavor to this salad.
- Avocado – sliced avocado brings so much flavor and texture to the salad.
- Corn – sauteed corn adds so much flavor.
- Doritos – nacho cheese doritos are our favorite for this recipe but you can use cool ranch doritos or any of your other favorite chips.
- Salsa – your favorite salsa adds so much flavor.
- Sour cream – makes the salad creamy and delicious.
How to Make Taco Salad:
This salad comes together so quickly. While the meat is cooking, you can slice and cut the rest of the ingredients, and you are ready to serve.
- Cook meat– using our taco meat recipe, prepare the protein and set aside.
- Prep veggies– chop up the lettuce, slice tomatoes, onion, and avocado.
- Saute corn– we prefer the corn sauteed and hot when serving the salad. Saute corn with butter until it starts to become golden. If you don’t like your corn hot, skip this step.
- Doritos– the Doritos can either be added to the salad whole or crushed; we prefer crushed, so there’s some in every bite.
- Dressing– so the salad isn’t dry, we serve it with sour cream and salsa.

This salad makes the perfect meal because it’s loaded with protein that will keep you full! However it’s fun to serve as a side salad to easy chicken tacos or even homemade steak fajitas!

I usually let the meat mixture cool before adding it to lettuce mix cause it will wilt the lettuce and doritos. I like it cold like the crunch also use western French for the dressing first time I had this yrs ago was made with Thousand island dressing I like both but western French is favorite at home. Enjoy

This has been one of my go to summer salads for almost 35 years! It is wonderful. May I suggest you dress it with Catalina Salad Dressing? That is what I use. I don’t use corn but do use a can of red kidney beans, drained and rinsed. **blush** I also use almost the whole bag of Doritos, LOL. So perfect for summer! Thank you, Valentina for sharing. I have meant to send this to you and just always forgot. Love your site and recipes!

Christine, I would have never thought Catalina dressing on the Taco salad, thanks for the tips – you’re a genius! (P.S. We really like to load on the Dorito’s, especially the kiddos. It is a “Dorito” Taco Salad, haha. ;)..)
