Writer Alan Conway has finished his latest mystery novel, but when he meets an untimely end, it is left to his editor Susan Ryeland to uncover the truth. The characters and puzzling plot in Conway’s novel come to life, and so do an array of modern people who surrounded Conway in real life. Are there any connections between these two worlds?
The critics are charmed and intrigued by Magpie Murders! The Boston Globe hails it as “an entertaining puzzle of a show” and calls it “good, twisty fun.” Paste exclaims that Magpie Murders is in a word “delightful.”

How Many Episodes Are There?
There are six beguiling episodes of the TV series Magpie Murders as seen on MASTERPIECE on PBS.
Episode 1: A mystery author turns in the manuscript for his latest book, but the last chapter is missing. His editor makes it her mission to find it.
