Stolen (2012) | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Glenn Kenny MSN Movies Stolen begins at overdetermined, makes a pit stop at outright sadistic and winds up in the parking garage of ridiculous even for a movie of this sort. Rated: 1.5/5 Sep 15, 2012 Full Review Stolen (2012) | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Keith Staskiewicz Entertainment Weekly The deep-rooted silliness makes it hard to take anything in the film seriously. But at least it has the decency never to ask us to. Rated: C- Sep 14, 2012 Full Review Stolen (2012) | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Stephanie Zacharek NPR In Stolen, [Cage] steals away with nothing; he's simply stalled out. Sep 13, 2012 Full Review Stolen (2012) | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Justin Brown Medium Popcorn This is a mess; plain and simple. Everything that happened in this movie was nuts and not in a good way. Rated: 1/5 Apr 29, 2024 Full Review Stolen (2012) | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn Josh Lucas' performance is wildly entertaining and unhinged but it's not enough to make this dull 90 minute caper. Rated: 1/5 Apr 29, 2024 Full Review Stolen (2012) | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Aptly named, Stolen is the cinematic equivalent of a synonym, the same movie but different than Taken. William H It's a very under-rated movie, it had good action scenes but didn't rely on them and had a fitting ending to a good movie Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/19/23 Full Review Jelisije J An entertaining fast paced action rescue film from the under appreciated Nicolas Cage. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review steve d Lazy and insanely predictable. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review ronald h "Stolen" is so far off the plausibility meter that it's actually rather insulting. Just a few examples (and there are many more):Bank robber Will Montgomery (Nicholas Cage) doesn't know how a GPS works, but he's able to hack into the FBI's computer database.Early in the film, Montgomery tells his partner that they can't steal gold bars from the bank because they're too heavy–they weigh 27 pounds each. Later, he and his diminutive female accomplice steal a bunch of the bars and drag them out in a bag.The aforementioned bank, which surely must have surely upped its security eight years after Montgomery and his crew stole $10 million in cash, is robbed again, with Montgomery basically using a propane torch to break through the vault floor. The film also features inept FBI agents, Josh Lucas playing an insane psychopath, and Cage clawing his way through Mardi Gras parades to rescue his kidnapped daughter. Lots of cars are totaled and lots of people are shot. With some movies, you can turn off your brain and just enjoy the action. I guess you could do that with "Stolen", but the entire thing is so absurd that you can't help but feel like a chump for sitting through it. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member While it's story isn't original, this film still manages to be entertaining with Cage doing a solid job, and having good bits of action.
