With just 2 ingredients (plus water), this Fireball cherry jello shots recipe is a tasty shooter with a delicious cinnamon flavor that will add a kick to any adult party.

I love serving jello shots for parties. Especially when they are so easy to make like this Fireball cherry jello shots recipe, these Green Apple Fireball jello shots and these berry blue Malibu jello shots.

When you need some red jello shots with a bit of a kick that are easy to make, this fireball cherry jello shots recipe can’t be beat.

The sweetness of the cherry-flavored jello helps to balance out the cinnamon taste from the Fireball whiskey and makes for a winning combination that tastes just like the Red Hots candy. (Red Hots have always been one of my favorite candies so it’s no wonder I like these jello shots so much!)

I like to serve them with blue jello shots for the 4th of July, with green jello shots at Christmas parties in December, with purple and green Jello shots for Halloween, and whenever my favorite football team (Go Falcons!) is having a big game.

Or even when some of my not-so-favorite football teams are playing…(that would be you, Patriots).

As with most jello shots, they are great party time-savers since you can make them in advance and keep them in the refrigerator until you need them.

And they are oh-so-tasty, which has made them one of the most popular fireball jello shot recipes at my parties.

Here’s your shopping list:

  • gelatin – 1 small (3-ounce) package of cherry jello
  • whisky – I like to use Fireball whiskey, but you can use any type of cinnamon whiskey.

And that’s it! It doesn’t get much easier than that!

How To Make Fireball Cherry Jello Shots

Boil some water

You don’t need to measure at this point, but put enough water in a kettle or pot to end up with 1 cup of boiling water.

I find using an electric kettle* works best for this.

The spout makes it much easier to pour without making a mess, the water boils really fast and it doesn’t use up any of your stove burners. (I always seem to be making jello shots while I’m cooking for a party so this has saved me a lot of headaches!)

Mix the hot water and gelatin

While you’re waiting for the water to boil, pour the cherry jello crystals into a mixing bowl.

I find that a glass mixing bowl with a spout* works best. The jello is easier to wash off the glass than plastic, and the spout makes it easier to pour into the jello cups later on.

When the it starts to boil, pour a cup of water into the bowl with the jello and mix until the crystals have dissolved.

Add the alcohol

Pour 2/3 cup Fireball whisky into a measuring cup.

I don’t like my jello shots to have a really strong alcohol flavor, but if you do, you can use more Fireball (up to 1 cup).

Add enough cold water to the Fireball whisky to make 1 cup. (If you used 1 cup of alcohol, you can skip this step).

Add the alcohol and water mixture to the Jello in the bowl.

Stir until combined.

Fill the Jello shot cups

Spread 16 to 20 2-oz plastic shot glasses* out on a cookie sheet.

I like the 2-ounce size better than the 1-ounce ones (which just seem too small to be satisfying).

While it isn’t totally necessary, the cookie sheet catches any spills, and makes it super easy to transfer them all to the refrigerator for chilling.

Fill each of the jello cups about 3/4 full with the jello mix.

To prevent condensation from forming on the inside of the shot cups, let the jello mixture cool to room temperature before putting the lids on.

The condensation doesn’t change the way the Jello shots taste, but they look better without it.

Refrigerate

Put in the refrigerator to chill until set, usually 2 to 4 hours.

The time will vary depending on how full the jello shot cups are, and how cold your refrigerator is.

FAQs

How many jello shots are in a box of Jello?

A small (3-ounce) box of jello will make about 16 2-ounce jello shots (depending on how full you make each one).

A large (6-ounce) box of jello will make about 32 2-ounce jello shots. You would need to double the rest of the ingredients in the recipe to make this work.

You can store jello shots in the refrigerator for up to a week (probably even longer). However, they start to lose their flavor after a few days.

I usuallymake them a day or two before the partyto get the best compromise between getting them ready early and still tasting good.
